June 17, 1921 — September 8, 2007
Survivors include his wife, Mildred Gutknecht of Cedar Falls; three sons, Richard (Sandra) Gutknecht of Waterloo, Donald (Lee Ann) Gutknecht of Panora, Iowa and Robert (Dianne) Gutknecht of Cedar Falls; three daughters, Marlene (Claus) Stricker of Blue Eye, Missouri, Marilyn (Robert) Christie of St. Charles, Minnesota and Lynda (Larry) Miller of Cedar Falls, 23 grandchildren, and 47 great grandchildren.
John was preceded in death by his parents, one great grandchild; three brothers, Lester, Donald and Kenneth Gutknecht; and three sisters, Ceba Gingrich, Vivian Patterson, and Verla Haar.
Services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, September 12, 2007, at Bethlehem Lutheran Church with burial in Zion Lutheran Cemetery, rural Hudson. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the Dahl-Van Hove-Schoof Funeral Home, and for one hour prior to service time at the church on Wednesday. A memorial fund will be established.
