John C Fahrer

John C. Fahrer, 89, of Cedar Falls, died Monday, December 7, 2009 at the Western Home Communities Elizabeth Martin Health Center.   He was born May 5, 1920 the son of Alfons and Emma (Assink) Fahrer at Waterloo. John married Maxine Carstensen February 16, 1941 at Finchford, Iowa. She preceded him in death April 17, 2009. John farmed until 1960, after which he became a salesman for J & R Sales.

He is survived by one son, Ron (Ann Dirksen-Fahrer) Fahrer of Waverly; two daughters, Linda Matthias of Cedar Falls and Jeneane Ellis of Waterloo; eleven grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren.

John was preceded in death by his parents, wife and his son-in-law, Roger Matthias.

Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Friday, December 11, 2009 at Nazareth Lutheran church with burial at Cedar Valley Memorial Garden Cemetery, both in Cedar Falls. Visitation will be 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. Thursday, December 10, 2009 at Dahl-Van Hove-Schoof Funeral Home. Memorials may be directed to Nazareth Lutheran Church or Cedar Valley Hospice.
