John Brauchler, January 22, 1939 ~ September 26, 2014 John passed away in Loveland, CO after a seventh month illness.He was born in Feketic, Yugoslavia to Jakob and Margarete Brauchler. They fled Yugoslavia during WWII on October 9, 1944, as communists were intent on killing all German residents. They traveled in a horse drawn covered wagon to Germany. They moved to Texas in 1950, due to lack of jobs in Germany. They moved to the Chicago area in 1951, for better work opportunity. He attended Lane Tech High School and was active in Youth For Christ Ministry. He played softball and basketball on church leagues. John became a ChicagoPolice Officerand retired from the force after 17 years. He married Edith Reising in 1958. They had four children and later divorced. After retiring he moved to Arizona and started a security guard business. He was active Youth for Christ member for 50 years. John coached an amateur/Pro basketball team for eight years. He married Debra Van Mill in Tucson, AZ May, 1990. His hobbies included traveling, spending time with children and grandchildren, and church service. He and Debra were directors of Bible study single adults and later, senior adults in Tucson, AZ. He served in leadership of Men's Ministry at several churches. He loved to sing and organized praise services in the Grand Valley. He was preceded in death by his parents and his son, Ronald. He is survived by wife, Debra; sister, Elvera (Horst) Becker; son, David (Lynn); daughters, Karen Baumann (Mark) and Janet Wilson (Dale); nine grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. A Memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, October 11, 2014 at Dahl-Van Hove-Schoof Funeral Home with inurnment at Cedar Valley Memorial Gardens, both in Cedar Falls.
