JOEL "JOE" W. BLANSHAN, 53, of Cedar Falls, died at home on Thursday, January 1, 2004.   He was born May 30, 1950 in Jefferson, Iowa, the son of Willis and Alice (Bakken) Blanshan. He married Jackie Gannon on May 12, 1979 in Grand Junction, Iowa.  Joe was a graduate of East Greene High School and a 1974 graduate of the University of Northern Iowa.  He owned and operated Joe Blanshan Construction Company in Cedar Falls, Iowa for 23 years.  Joe was a former member of the St. Patrick Catholic Church Parish Council.  He was involved with Boy Scouts Troop 370 and was a member of Pheasants Forever. . He is survived by his wife, Jackie, of Cedar Falls and his children, Mitch, Tim and Jill, all of Cedar Falls; his parents, Willis and Alice Blanshan, of Grand Junction, Iowa; three brothers, Ron (Ellen) Blanshan of Moline, Illinois, Tom Blanshan of Overland Park, Kansas and Kevin (Dee) Blanshan of Waterloo, Iowa, and a sister, Marcia Blanshan of Ankeny, Iowa. Funeral services were 10:00 a.m. Monday, January 5, 2004 at Saint Patrick Catholic Church in Cedar Falls with interment in Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Waterloo.  Memorials may be directed to Saint Patrick Catholic Church.
