JoAnne Katherine Walther, 74, of Cedar Falls, died Sunday, May 10, 2020, at Mercy One Hospital in Waterloo from COVID-19. She was born April 8, 1946 in Anamosa, Iowa. JoAnne was a 1964 graduate of Waterloo Columbus High School and managed Answer Iowa Answering Service in Waterloo for many years. She also owned and operated "Grandma's Treasures" antique shop in Cedar Falls and worked for 10 years as a CNA at the Cedar Falls Lutheran Home (now NewAldaya). JoAnne's greatest joy was spending time with her family.
She is survived by her former spouse, Larry (Barb) Coffin of Waterloo; her children, Niki (Michael) Poe and Angie Coffin, both of Cedar Falls, and Chad (Karen) Coffin of Virginia Beach, Virginia; six grandchildren, Eleanor, Lillian, Grace & Sophia Poe, and Zachary and Charlie Coffin; her four sisters, Rosemary Serum of Olathe, Kansas, Gail (Mark) Zweibohmer of Coralville, Iowa, Charlene (Neal) Holthaus of Festina, Iowa and Karla (Neil) Lensing of Fort Atkinson, Iowa; many nieces, nephews, family and friends, and her beloved cat, Omar.
JoAnne was preceded in death by her mother, Lucille Rothmeyer Anderson; her adoptive parents, Bruce and Florence McCann; two husbands, James Wettengel and Dennis Walther, and a brother-in-law, Jerry Serum.
A Celebration of Life will be later this summer when her family and friends are finally allowed to gather and honor her. Memorials may be directed to the Cedar Bend Humane Society. Online condolences may be left at www.DahlFuneralHome.com.
