Joann Simmons Lackey, 75, of East Moline, Illinois, passed away in Waterloo, on Saturday, December 21, from complications of lung disease. She was born January 20, 1938 in Woodbury, Tennessee to Allie and Vera (Conley) Simmons. Joann graduated from Cannon County High School in Tennessee. She married Roy Lackey on June 20, 1964 in Plymouth, Michigan and they resided in East Moline. Joann worked for AT&T for thirty years and then for Barjan Co. She was a member of the Pioneers of America, a club for retired AT&T employees, and volunteered at Illini Hospital. Joann enjoyed travel when her health allowed it, was an avid NBA fan and loved her family more than anything. She is survived by her daughter, Suzanne (Brian) Luecke, and granddaughters, Leann and Lynn, all of Cedar Falls. Joann is preceded in death by her husband and her parents. Services will be 1:00 p.m. Friday, December 27, 2013, at Van Hoe Funeral Home in East Moline, Illinois, with burial at Rock Island National Cemetery, Rock Island, Illinois. Visitation will be 47:00 p.m. Monday at Dahl-Van Hove-Schoof Funeral Home in Cedar Falls, and 11:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m. Friday at Van Hoe Funeral Home in East Moline.
