JOAN ELDA PEARCE was born June 5, 1929 in Charles City, Iowa, the daugher of Harold and Elda (Koehler) Kelleher. She married Joseph H. Pearce, Jr. on July 27, 1947 at the Little Brown Church, Nashua, Iowa. Joan owned and operated the Jersey Freeze in Cedar Falls, Iowa for six years and was past secretary for the Washington Chapel Cemetery Association. She was a volunteer for Countryview Care Center in Waterloo, Iowa, the Western Home in Cedar Falls, Cerebral Palsy Bowling and was a Girl Scout Leader. Joan died Thursday, November 5, 1998 at Covenant Medical Center in Waterloo at 69 years of age.
She is survived by her husband of Waterloo; her two sons, Joseph H. Pearce, III of Slater, Iowa and James C. Pearce of Cedar Falls; her daughter, Nancy L. Foss of Evansdale, Iowa; four grandchildren, Kenneth and Kelly Foss, Jamie Jo Williams and Joseph Pearce, IV; two great-grandchildren, Samantha Vest and Kayla Williams; three brothers, Francis Kelleher of Arkansas, Harold Kelleher of Nashua and Myron Kelleher of Cedar Falls and a sister, Karen O'Connell of Fredericksburg, Iowa.
Joan was preceded in death by her parents.
Funeral services were 10:30 a.m. Monday, November 9 at Washington Chapel United Methodist Church in rural Cedar Falls, with burial at Washington Chapel Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to the church.
