JOAN
GUTKNECHT was born December 4, 1930 near Fairbank, Iowa the daughter of Lawrence and Letha (Damon) Kerns. She graduated from East High School in Waterloo in 1949 and married Gilbert Gutknecht on May 19, 1950 at St. John Lutheran Church in Cedar Falls, Iowa. Joan died Friday, December 1, 2000 at her home at the age of 69 years.
Survivors include her husband, Gilbert Gutknecht, Sr, of Cedar Falls; three sons, Gilbert Gutknecht, Jr. and his wife, Mary, of Rochester, Brad Gutknecht of Urbandale, Iowa, and Todd Gutknecht and his wife, Tracie, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; five grandchildren; one brother, Richard Kerns of Waterloo, Iowa, and six sisters, Patricia Perry of Evansdale, Dorothy Wilson of Waterloo, Karen Perkins of Denison, Texas, Yvonne Brown of Hazelton, Susan Linsteadt of Pottsboro, Texas, and Joyce Bowden of Raymond. Joan was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Jerry and Eugene Kerns; and one sister, Colleen Hamilton.
Services were 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, December 5, 2000 at the Dahl-Van Hove-Schoof Funeral Home with burial in Cedar Valley Memorial Gardens.
