Jo Ann Marie Hoy

Jo Ann Marie Hoy, 63, of Cedar Falls, died Monday, June 24, 2024, at MercyOne Medical Center in Cedar Falls. Jo Ann was born July 4, 1960 in Cedar Falls, Iowa, the daughter of Kenneth and Marjorie (Gersema) Hoy. She graduated from Cedar Falls High School, class of 1979. She worked as a laundry attendant and housekeeper for Pinnacle Specialty Care in Cedar Falls for many years.

Jo Ann enjoyed learning history, watching old movies and classic TV shows, and professional basketball. She had an incredible talent of being able to recall specific dates throughout history and always remembered everyone's birthday. Jo Ann was the proud owner of a beautiful red, 1967 Chevy Impala, nicknamed "The Cardinal," and loved driving her prized possession around town. She also loved spending time with her dogs.

Jo Ann is survived by her brothers, Dennis Hoy of Waterloo, and Darrell (Jean) Hoy of Washburn; nieces, Leah Hoy and Tracey Huinker; and a nephew, Travis Hoy. She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Ken Hoy; and her beloved dogs.

Visitation for Jo Ann will be held at First United Methodist Church in Cedar Falls from 3-4pm on Tuesday, July 2, 2024 with her funeral starting at 4pm. A private graveside service will take place at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made in Jo Ann's memory to the Cedar Bend Humane Society.
