Jerry Lee Venenga, 84, of New Hartford, passed away at home with family by his side on February 24, 2025. He was born in Eldora, February 2, 1941, son of Roy and Isabelle (Hess) Venenga. Jerry graduated from New Hartford High School in 1959, after attending Norton's Corner and Waverly Shell Rock Schools, then attended Ellsworth Community College. He was united in marriage on August 20, 1965, to Jacqueline Wardius in rural Hudson.
Jerry worked at John Deere, Farmer's Cooperative, Hawkeye Corrugated Box and Wagner Manufacturing. He served in the Army Reserves from 1963-1969. Jerry owned JV Service/Repair, Venenga Construction and farmed in the Dike and New Hartford area. He was a 14 year member of the New Hartford Community School Board, serving when the Dike and New Hartford Schools became one district. Jerry was a New Hartford Jaycee and shared in the needs of the community. He loved to putter around the farm, fish with his grandkids, hunt for the big buck, teach valuable lessons to the grandkids, and was always there to lend a helping hand or laugh when needed the most. Jerry's most joyous accomplishment was chasing his grandkids all over the country in their countless activities.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 59 years, Jacqueline; children: Janean Ranae Venenga Carey (Phillip) and Jeremy Jason Venenga (Sara); grandchildren: Phillip Jerry Paul Carey (Jackie), Cecilia Jayden Venenga (Eli), Jonathan Michael Carey (Nicole), Savanna Koryn Venenga, Sylvia Elise Venenga, Justice Reed Venenga; siblings: Linda Venenga Cuvelier, Donna Venenga Brown (David), Keith Venenga (Becky); sisters-in-laws, June Strong (Jerry) and Jeanna North (Robert) and many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents; and brothers-in-law, Kent Cuvelier and Tony Harn
Jerry's Funeral Service will be at 10:30 am on Saturday, March 1, 2025 with Visitation on Friday, February 28 from 4-7 pm; resuming one hour prior to the service all at Fredsville Lutheran Church. Private family burial will be at a later date. In lieu of flowers, please direct all memorial to the Jerry Venenga Memorial. Dahl-Van Hove-Schoof Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
