Jerod "Jed" Paul Moschel, 86, Cedar Falls, died September 25, 2024, at Deery Suites Western Home Communities.
Jed was born January 15, 1938 in Oelwein to the late Albert and Eva (Dumermuth) Moschel. He grew up on the family farm between Hawkeye and West Union. Following graduation from West Union High School, Jed went on to earn a degree in Industrial Technology at the University of Northern Iowa. He married the love of his life, Twyla Schatz, on August 16, 1959, in West Union. The couple was blessed with two children: Brenda and Mark. Jed was employed in the R&D division of Chamberlain Manufacturing Company for 25 years beginning in engineering and later as marketing manager. He retired in 1992. While working he especially enjoyed the international business travel to various countries. After retirement, he worked as an independent consultant with former coworkers as Hawkeye Engineering & Consulting. Jed was skilled in and enjoyed working with wood, construction, wine making, sailing, driving his MGB, and golf. Following Twyla's retirement, the couple enjoyed numerous adventures in their motor home traveling throughout North America and abroad. They made many friends along the way.
Jed is survived by his beloved wife of 65 years, Twyla; children, Brenda (Jack) Truelsen of Cedar Falls and Mark (Maria) Moschel of Plymouth, MN; grandsons, Michael (Alee Clover) Truelsen of Plymouth, MN and Thomas (Chris Hale) Truelsen of Cedar Falls; granddaughter, Shannon (Wade) Ingamells of Hudson; great grandchildren, Emily Ingamells of Cedar Falls and Zach Ingamells of Hudson; sisters, Judith Vagts of Ossian, IA and Janice (Jon) Crouch of Liberty, MO; brother, Joel (Jeanette) Moschel of Hawkeye, IA; sisters-in-law, Stephanie Van Bogart, Janice Arthur, and Carolyn (Henry) Toebes; and extended family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; parents-in-law, Herbert & Doris Schatz; brother-in-law, Bud Vagts; nephews, Robert Vagts and Jason Berry; and niece, Sheryl Antes.
The Celebration of Life service for Jed will be at 11:00 AM on Friday, October 18, 2024, at St. John Lutheran Church (715 College Street, Cedar Falls). Visitation will be from 10:00 AM until the time of service at the church. Dahl-Van Hove-Schoof Funeral Home is assisting the family.
Memorials may be directed to Fresh Wind Ministries at the Western Home Communities Cedar Falls, St. John Lutheran Church Cedar Falls, or your choice.
