Jennifer "Jen" Erin Mcdivitt

Jennifer "Jen" Erin McDivitt, 45, of Aplington, died Wednesday, September 20, 2023, at UPH Allen Memorial Hospital in Waterloo.

Jen was born in Waterloo on November 11, 1977, the daughter of Jim and Helen (Juhl) Mease. She grew up in Cedar Falls, attending Cedar Falls High School before earning a degree in Business Administration from Kaplan University. She worked for Hamilton College and Kaplan University as a Student Financial Assistant for many years. On July 7, 2007, Jen married James "Jim" McDivitt in Dike.

Jen was very meticulous, specifically when it came to serving and preparing meals for any type of gathering, especially holidays. To her, the event itself wasn't the important part. Playing board games, watching the Hawkeyes, preparing for guests, was fun but to Jen the most important part was creating memories and spending time with the people she loved. She loved her dogs, Bo and Tinker, and was a very proud owner of a Chrysler 300. Jen also liked to shop, calling it her "Retail Therapy," and had a vast collection of pens and salt and pepper shakers.

Jen is survived by her husband, Jim McDivitt; father, Jim (Susan) Mease; children, Kaylie Sharar, Brian (Kelsey) McDivitt, Brandon (Stevi) McDivitt, and Riley McDivitt (Lawren Medhaug); grandchildren, Abel and Amelia McDivitt; and brother, Jared (Andrea) Mease.

She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Jim and Betty Mease and Leonard and Jean Juhl; and mother, Helen Mease.

A visitation will be held from 6-7pm, Tuesday, September 26 at Dahl-Van Hove Schoof Funeral Home in Cedar Falls with her Celebration of Life starting at 7pm. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Cedar Bend Humane Society or the American Foundation of Suicide Prevention.
