Jennie Tjepkes

Jennie M. Tjepkes, 89, of Cedar Falls, Iowa, died at home on Sunday, April 26, 2015. She was born January 13, 1926, in Ackley, Iowa, the daughter of Nan and Jennie (Harms) Folken. Jennie married Melvin M. Tjepkes on May 1, 1945. She was a sales representative for Avon Cosmetics and also worked at Girl Scout Camp Tahigwa in Dorchester, Iowa, for many years. Survivors include her husband, Melvin Tjepkes of Cedar Falls; two sons, Mike (Vicki) Tjepkes of Wellsburg, Iowa, and Keith (Barb) Tjepkes of Maple Grove, Minnesota; one daughter, Paulette (Dale) Eekhoff of Grand Rapids, Michigan; six grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, Eilert, John and Henry Folken, and four sisters, Henrietta Daniels, Anna Ites, Florence Kuiper and Mary Sells. Services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, April 29, 2015, at Nazareth Lutheran Church in Cedar Falls. Visitation will be from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. Tuesday at Dahl-Van Hove-Schoof Funeral Home.
