Jean Marie McCullough, 82, of Cedar Falls, died Thursday, November 6, 2014, at the Western Home Communities Elizabeth Martin Health Center in Cedar Falls. She was born January 11, 1932, in Chicago, Illinois, the daughter of Donald and Laura (Stevenson) Kennedy. She married Eric McCullough on October 28, 1950. She graduated from Harper High School in Chicago and attended the Chicago Art Institute. The most important day of her life was when at 11 years of age she trusted Christ as her Savior through the words of Matthew 11:28. "Come unto me, all ye that labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest." She loved children, and did volunteer teaching at River Hills School in Cedar Falls for 9 years. She also volunteered at the Lily Ferguson Child Development Center in Waterloo and helped the Waterloo community when children from Bosnia began immigrating to this area. On October 28, 1950 she married Dr. Eric McCullough and they moved to Cedar Falls where he established a practice as a chiropractor. She was happy in fellowship with the assembly at the Cedar Falls Gospel Hall since its inception, which she greatly appreciated. With her husband, she made several short term visits to Antigua in the West Indies for gospel work. She became involved in a work with teenaged girls and had the joy of seeing a number saved. Recently one of her home care aides came to know the Savior as a result of her testimony. Left to mourn her loss are her husband Eric, four daughters; Shirley (Russell) Sluiter, Denver, IA, Carol (Duane) Hamilton, Republic, MO, Sharon (Tim) Fouts, Novi, MI, Mary (Bryan) Burton, Waterloo, IA, one son Brian (Andrea) McCullough, Hudson, IA, 14 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren, all whom she adored. She is also survived by two sisters, Shirley (David) Nelson, Peotone, IL. and Beth (Bob) Marshall, St. Charles, IL. Preceding her in death were her parents, Donald and Laura Kennedy. Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Monday, November 10, 2014, at the Cedar Falls Gospel Hall with burial in Greenwood Cemetery, both in Cedar Falls. Visitation will be 2:00 to 6:00 p.m. Sunday, November 9, 2014, at Dahl-Van Hove-Schoof Funeral Home and one hour preceding services at the Cedar Falls Gospel Hall.
