Janice M. Evans

Janice M. Evans, 92, of Grimes, Iowa, formerly of Cedar Falls, died Monday, October 2, 2017, at Arbor Springs in West Des Moines, Iowa.  She was born September 12, 1925 in Gladbrook, Iowa, the daughter of Henry and Alice (Whittaker) Wilken.  Janice married William P. Evans on August 10, 1947 at First Presbyterian Church in Waterloo, Iowa.  He preceded her in death on June 16, 1986.  Janice graduated from Gladbrook High School and Gates Business College in Waterloo.  She was a secretary and bookkeeper, and worked for many years at Basket of Daisies.  Janice loved antiques and was a member of Questers. She also enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, working in her flower garden and bird watching.

Janice is survived by her son, William D. (Tami) Evans, of Grimes, Iowa; her two daughters, Suzanne (Chris) Neith of Cedar Falls and Mary (John) Davis of Grimes; six grandchildren; two great grandchildren, and her sister, Mildred (Vernon) Dengler, of Traer, Iowa.

She was preceded in death by her parents and husband; a great grandchild, Lila Andersen; her sister and brother-in-law, Joan and Earl Strohecker, and her step mother, Alinda Wilken.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, October 7, 2017, at Dahl-Van Hove-Schoof Funeral Home, with burial at Greenwood Cemetery, both in Cedar Falls.  Visitation will be 5 - 7:00 p.m. Friday, and one hour before service, at the funeral home.  Memorials may be directed to Suncrest Hospice, West Des Moines.  Condolences may be left at www.DahlFuneralHome.com.
