Janet Skiles

Janet "Jan" Skiles, 79, of Cedar Falls, died Friday, October 7, 2016 at Pinnacle Specialty Care in Cedar Falls. Jan was born November 9, 1936 in Ft. Dodge, Iowa, the daughter of Leo & DeMeris (Suer) Jordan. She married Byron "Barney" Skiles January 10, 1959 in Ft. Dodge. He preceded her in death September 23, 2012. Jan graduated from Sacred Heart High School in Ft. Dodge and the University of Northern Iowa in Cedar Falls. She was employed as a Lab Tech at Allen Memorial Hospital in Waterloo.

Survivors include two sons, Jeff (Patty) Skiles of Cedar Falls and Steve (Johanna) Skiles of Keller, Texas; three daughters, Gerri (Carl) Cable of Newton, Iowa, Cecee Smith and Janmarie (Dean) Cross, both of Cedar Falls; ten grandchildren, Caylen and Curtis Cable, Nick and Derek Skiles, Josh and Lindsie Smith, Shane and Jake Skiles, and Lincoln and Haven Cross; and five great grandchildren, Adreanna, Charlee and Corbin Smith, Kyrsten Cable and Kylie Thomas.

Jan was preceded in death by her parents and husband; three grandchildren, Adam Skiles, and Justice and Trycen Cross; and one brother, Jerry Jordan.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday, October 13, 2016 at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church with inurnment at Garden of Memories Cemetery, both in Waterloo. Visitation will be one hour prior to service time at the church. Memorials may be directed to the church. Dahl-Van Hove-Schoof Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements, 266-7525.
