Survivors include his wife, Cindy, of Oelwein, Iowa; five sons, Johnny Nelson and Robert (Teresa) Way, both of Clearwater, Florida, Ronald Way of Castle Rock, Colorado, Jonathon (Heather Anger) Knock of Waterloo, Alan (Marcia Metzger) Knock of Waverly; three daughters, Tammy Way of Waterloo, Keri (Dale) Parker of Washington, Iowa, Michelle Knock of Cedar Falls; twelve grandchildren, one great grandchild; one brother, Tommy Way of Des Moines, Iowa; and two sisters, Patricia Garrison of Evansdale, Iowa and Judy (Dennis) Ohrt of Waterloo. James was preceded in death by his parents.

Visitation will be from 3:30 to 7:15 p.m. Friday at the Dahl-Van Hove-Schoof Funeral Home with a short service and military rites conducted by Cedar Falls AMVET Post 49, to follow. Memorials may be directed to the family.
