James Thomas "Jim" Lynch

James Thomas "Jim" Lynch, 91, of Hudson, passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday, May 24, 2023.  He was born August 26, 1931 in Marshalltown, Iowa, the son of James Francis and Zona (Jennings) Lynch. Jim graduated from Fairbank High School with the Class of 1949, then attended Barber School in Iowa City.  On January 14, 1951, he was married to Dolores Pogge in West Point, Iowa.  Jim was a barber from 1950-1975, then worked for John Deere, retiring in 1993.  He was a member of the Hudson Volunteer Fire Department for 31 years, enjoyed trapshooting, camping and spending time with his family.

Jim is survived by his three daughters: Zona (Steve) Tiller of Knoxville, Iowa, Mary (Ray) Marticoff of Tripoli, Iowa and Teresa (Steve) Baird of Hudson; daughter-in-law, Jill Lynch, of Waterloo; 14 grandchildren, Brian, Kari, Jeremy, Ben, Matt, Ryan, Jenni, Jason, Christi, Nicole, Katlin, Jasmin, Kayla and Matthew; 29 great-grandchildren, and sister, Barbara (Michael) Reese, of Coos Bay, Oregon.  He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Dolores, and son, Robert "Bob" Lynch.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 am Thursday, June 1, 2023, at St. Patrick Catholic Church, with visitation at Dahl-Van Hove-Schoof Funeral Home on Wednesday from 4-7:00 pm, and one hour before the service at the church.  In lieu of flowers/plants, memorials may be directed to the Hudson Volunteer Fire Department and condolences can be left at www.DahlFuneralHome.com.

Jim was an accomplished trapshooter and enjoyed camping.  He was, above all else, a family man who will be missed dearly by those he leaves behind as his legacy.
