James Curtis Jacobson, 88, of Cedar Falls, passed away peacefully at NorthCrest Specialty Care on Tuesday, November 4, 2025. He was born in Mason City, IA on March 7, 1937, son of Henry and Vernetta (Hanson) Jacobson. Jim graduated from Clear Lake High School in 1955, then served in the United States Navy for 4 years, working in depth with Atom Bombs and testing. He went to Luther College in Decorah, and Mason City Community College. Jim married Maxine Bell in 1962 and they had two sons, Jon and Scott Jacobson. He worked as Senior Loan Officer for JDCCU Finance for 34 years, retiring in 1999. In his retirement, Jim enjoyed traveling around the world, fishing, spending time with family and friends, going to church and bible study at Nazareth (Member since 1964), and enjoying the company of his long-time special friend, Bonnie Kohn.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Arlene Laughlin; brothers, Donald and Robert Jacobson, and grandson, David Jacobson. He is survived by his sons, Jon (Tami) Jacobson of Las Vegas, NV and Scott Jacobson of Cedar Falls; granddaughter, Jennifer (Matt) McDonald of Waterloo; 3 great grandchildren, and Bonnie Kohn.
Jim's Funeral Service will be at 10am, Wednesday, November 12th at Nazareth Lutheran Church with Visitation at 4pm Tuesday, November 11th at Dahl-Van Hove-Schoof Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Clear Lake Cemetery with military honors. Memorials may be directed to the Cedar Valley Humane Society or the Cedar Valley Food Bank.
