James Hubert Hamilton

James Hubert "Huey" Hamilton, 88, (formerly of Cedar Falls) passed away at home in Albert Lea, Minnesota, on Saturday, January 20, 2024.  He was born November 2, 1935, in Sulligent (Lamar County), Alabama, son of Claude and Lillie (Duncan) Hamilton.  Huey moved to Waterloo as a young adult and worked for Waterloo Industries as a Maintenance Mechanic for 32 years before retiring in 1996.  He met Arliss Jean Wyant at the First Assembly of God Church in Waterloo, and they married June 11, 1966.

Huey was preceded in death by his parents; his wife of 45 years, Arliss; siblings: Mary Jane Archer, Evel Lee DuBose, Lorene Jones, Allene Beard, Ruby Giles, John Hamilton, Herbert Hamilton and Claude Hamilton.  He is survived by his children: James "Robert" Hamilton of Cedar Falls and Sandra Hamilton of Albert Lea, Minnesota; 3 grandchildren: Ashley Goodman, Morgan Uhlenhopp and Skylar Herbsleb; and a sister, Sue Crosby of Wetumpka, AL; and many beloved nieces, nephews and friends.

Huey's Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, January 27, 2024, with Visitation on Friday from 5-7:00 at Dahl-Van Hove-Schoof Funeral Home.  Burial to follow at Cedar Valley Memorial Gardens of Cedar Falls.  Memorials may be directed to the family.

Huey was a great pitcher who was inducted into the Waterloo Softball Association Hall of Fame in 1997.  He played ball for many Waterloo churches as well as Waterloo Industries.  Huey was a dedicated employee who never missed a day of work.  He was a devoted member of his church and he and Arliss had their children in all of the weekly activities.  Huey was a loyal man who cherished time with his children and grandchildren above all else.
