JAMES E. CORWIN was born April 13, 1929 in Waterloo, Iowa, the son of Joel and Dolores (Stephens) Corwin. He married Patricia Howe of Spencer, Iowa, on June 13, 1952 in Cedar Falls, Iowa. She preceded him in death on May 2, 1980. James served with the U.S. Navy from 1951-1953, on the U.S.S. Goodrich, in the Pacific during the Korean Conflict. He was a Pattern Maker and Supervisor at John Deere & Company for 37 years, retiring in 1984. James was a member of the Cedar Falls AMVETS Post 49 and a former member of the Waterloo Wildcats semiprofessional football team. He enjoyed the great outdoors and loved fishing and hunting. James died Saturday, October 18, 2003, at Sartori Memorial Hospital in Cedar Falls, at 74 years of age. He is survived by his son, Stephen (Cindy) Corwin, of Cedar Falls; three grandchildren, Ashley, Morgan and Madison Corwin, all of Cedar Falls and a great-grandchild, Tayah Medhaug. James was preceded in death by his wife and parents. Funeral services were 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, October 21, 2003, at First United Methodist Church, with   interment at Greenwood Cemetery, both in Cedar Falls.  Memorials may be directed to Cedar Valley Hospice, the American Cancer Society or the American Lung Association.
