James Beard

James Kent Beard, 56, of Waterloo, died Thursday, September 19, 2013, at Sartori Memorial Hospital in Cedar Falls. He was born May 14, 1957 in Waterloo, the son of Clarence and Allene (Hamilton) Beard. James served in the U.S. Army and was a musician most of his life. Survivors include his sister, Carol (Steve) Pieper, of Eldridge, Iowa, and his brother, Tom (Sandy) Beard, of Mt. Horeb, Wisconsin. James was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Patty Babcock, and a brother, Frank Beard. Services will be 1:30 p.m. Monday, September 23, 2013, at Dahl-Van Hove-Schoof Funeral Home, with inurnment at Greenwood Cemetery, both in Cedar Falls. Military honors will be conducted by Cedar Falls AMVETS Post 49. Visitation will be one hour before the service. Memorials may be directed to the family.
