J. MARGARET CHRISTENSEN
CANTINE, 84, of Waverly, Iowa, died Tuesday, November 29, at Sartori Memorial Hospital in Cedar Falls. She was born December 28, 1920 in rural Cedar Falls, the daughter of Jens and Elna (Christensen) Christensen. Margaret married Russell A. Cantine on June 20, 1943 at Nazareth Lutheran Church in Cedar Falls. She taught school at Quinby, Reinbeck, Cedar Falls and Waverly, Iowa. Margaret later became a partner with her husband in the Coast to Coast Hardware Store and Gold Coast Gifts, both in Waverly, retiring in 1983.
Survivors include her husband, Russell, of Waverly; a daughter, Penelope (Jonathan) Stull of Cedar Falls; two sons, Thomas J. (Anne Marie) Cantine of San Diego, California and Timothy S. (Jennifer) Cantine of Decorah, Iowa; seven grandchildren, Daniel, Dana and Kristoffer Cantine, Andrew, Aaron and Lauren Cantine, and Dylan Stull; one great-grandson, Daniel Cantine, Jr., and two sisters, Mabel (Allen) Powell of New Hartford Iowa and Velda (Gene) LeMay of Springfield, Illinois.
Margaret was preceded in death by her parents, a brother, Howard Christensen and a sister, Virginia Sorensen.
Funeral services were 10:00 am Friday, December 2, 2005, at Nazareth Lutheran Church, with private interment at Greenwood Cemetery, both in Cedar Falls. Memorials may be directed to Christian Crusaders or Riverside Bible Camp in Story City, Iowa.
