J. Edward Baker, 69, of the Western Home Communities in Cedar Falls, died Monday, December 30, 2013, at Covenant Medical Center in Waterloo. He was born February 27, 1944 in Cedar Falls, the son of Rodney and Margaret (Morgan) Baker. He was a graduate of the Vinton School for the Blind and worked at HyVee College Square for over twenty years and the Cedar Falls Redemption Center for several years. Survivors include his brother, Dean Baker, of Newton, Iowa; a nephew, Chad (Jana) Baker, of Waukee, Iowa; a niece, Julie (Brian) Kingery, of Pella, Iowa, and two grandnephews and a grandniece, Brett, Loren and A. J. Kingery, all of Pella. He was preceded in death by his parents. Services will be 11:00 a.m. Friday, January 3, 2014, at First United Methodist Church in Cedar Falls, with burial at Washington Chapel Cemetery in rural Cedar Falls. Visitation will be one hour before service at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Western Home Communities or First United Methodist Church, Cedar Falls.
