Ivan Clark McKee, 84, passed away at the Cedar Valley Hospice Home in Waterloo, Iowa, on Friday, July 19, 2019.  He was born in Iowa City on August 14, 1934, son of Paul & Iva (Noble) McKee.  Ivan attended schools in Afton, Iowa, and enlisted in the United States Air Force in July of 1952.  On July 9, 1954, he was married to Darlene Jo Rogers at the Evangelical United Brethren Church of Everett, WA.  Ivan and Darlene moved their large family to various places from Alaska to Nebraska while he continued his military service, retiring from the Air Force in August of 1972.  With his electrical maintenance training from the military, Ivan worked for the Iowa State Teachers College (now UNI) and Hawkeye Tech (now Hawkeye Community College) until his retirement.  Ivan was a member of the VFW Post 1623 of Waterloo.

Ivan was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Brenda Lynn McKee; son, Brian John McKee; infant grandson, Zachary McKee; and sisters, Lyla Carroll and Geraldine Wickert.  He is survived by his beloved wife of 65 years, Darlene; 2 sons, Daniel McKee of Owatonna, MN and Brad McKee of Cedar Falls; 5 daughters:  Paula Chiri of Bayard, IA; Marcia (James Wahner) McKee of Cedar Falls; Monica (John Barrington) Dean of Henderson, NV; Melissa (Alan) Capler of Lincoln Park, MI; and Pamela Portillo of Lake City, IA; 27 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; 3 sisters: Lavonne Cimburek of Forks, WA; Katherine Stambaugh of Fallon, NV; and Janet Magnuson of Forks, WA; and many extended family members.

Funeral Service will be held at 10:30 am on Thursday, July 25, 2019, at Dahl-VanHove-Schoof Funeral Home of Cedar Falls with a visitation from 5-7:00 pm on Wednesday.  Burial will take place at Hillside Cemetery of Cedar Falls with Military Rites by the AMVETS Post 49 of Cedar Falls and the United States Air Force Funeral Honors Detail.  Memorials may be directed to the family for future designation.  Condolences may be left at www.dahlfuneralhome.com .

Ivan enjoyed travel and took his family on many road trips which included stops at all of the sights along the way.  They went across the country and he was able to visit 40 of the 50 United States.  Ivan was happiest, though, sitting at home on the porch and playing cribbage and card games with family and friends.  He had a taste for chocolate and would dole out a candy bar to the nine children.  Ivan will be remembered for his infectious belly-laughs which would sweep all those around him into fits of hysteria.
