Iva M Engel

Iva M. Engel, 93, of Cedar Falls, died Tuesday, May 5, 2009 at the Western Home Communities Elizabeth Martin Health Center.  Iva was born May 12, 1915 in Dike, Iowa, the daughter of John Taylor & Carrie Marie (Petersen) Nielsen.  She graduated in 1932 from Dike High School.  Iva married Lynn Engel November 21, 1939 at Kahoka, Missouri.  She was a member of Fredsville Lutheran Church where she was also a member of Ladies Aid-Martha Circle.

Survivors include her husband, Lynn Engel, of Cedar Falls; her son, Jon (Patricia) Engel, of Oceanside, California; her daughter, Lynda Engel, of Parkersburg, Iowa; six grandchildren, Kristin Schneiderman, Jeff (Lori) Engel, Dean (Michelle) Everts, Matt (Becky) Engel, Dave (Jodi) Everts, and Julie (Sean) Alexander; and two sisters, Mildred Sloth and Carol Posekany, both of Cedar Falls.

Iva was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Elmer & Virgil Nielsen; and two sisters, Hazel Schmidt and Harriet Parker.

Services will be 1:00 p.m. Friday, May 8, 2009 at Fredsville Lutheran Church with burial in Fredsville Lutheran Cemetery.  Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday at the Dahl-Van Hove-Schoof Funeral Home, and for one hour prior to service time at the church on Friday.  A memorial fund will be established.
