Irene Moody

Irene"Johnnie" Johnson Moody, 92, of Cedar Falls and formerly of Waterloo, died Friday, October 11, 2013 at her residence. Irene was born December 1, 1920, in Cedar Falls, the daughter of Ole and Dagny (Kaae) Johnson. She married C. M. "Mike" Moody October 4, 1947 in Waterloo. He preceded her In death in April 1988. Irene was educated in a one room school west of Cedar Falls and graduated from Cedar Falls High School in 1938. She was a graduate of Allen Memorial Hospital Lutheran School of Nursing in 1945. Irene was a Registered Nurse at Schoitz Memorial Hospital in Waterloo for many years, retiring in 1982. Survivors include her son, Joe (Cindy) Moody, of Cedar Falls; two grandchildren, Kaitlyn and Matthew Moody, and one sister, Dorothy (Ralph) Bloker, of Janesville, Iowa. Irene was preceded in death by her parents, husband, three sons, Elmer John Moody, Tom Moody, and Dan Moody; one daughter, Annette Moody; two brothers, Harry Johnson and Don Johnson, and one sister, Harriet Johnson. Services will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday, October 17, 2013, at St. Ansgar Lutheran Church, with inurnment at Mt. Olivet Cemetery, both in Waterloo. Visitation will be 47:00 p.m. Wednesday at Dahl-Van Hove-Schoof Funeral Home, and one hour before service at the church. Memorials may be directed to St. Ansgar Lutheran Church, Cedar Valley Hospice, or Covenant Auxiliary.
