Howard C. Easter, 94, of Waterloo, formerly of Cedar Falls, died Wednesday, September 21, 2011, at Lakeview Landing Health Center in Waterloo. He was born June 5, 1917 in Cedar Falls, the son of Ersie and Leda (Mattingly) Easter. Howard married Mary Brinley in 1941 in Cedar Falls. He graduated from Iowa State Teachers College Campus School, Iowa State Teachers College (UNI), and pursued graduate studies at the University of Michigan. Howard served honorably in the United States Army Air Corps during World War II. He was a band teacher for several years and was a sales representative for the Evans Corporation for many years. Howard was also a jazz pianist with the Howy Curtis Trio Band.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Easter, of Waterloo, a son, Larry Easter, of Pasadena, California, and a brother, Marvin Easter, of Columbus, Ohio.
Howard was preceded in death by his parents.
Services will be 10:30 am Monday, September 26, 2011, at Dahl-Van Hove-Schoof Funeral Home in Cedar Falls, with burial at Garden of Memories in Waterloo. Memorials may be directed to the family. Online condolences may be left at www.DahlFuneralHome.com.Visits: 0
