Howard C Courtney

Howard W. Courtney, 91, of Cedar Falls and formerly of Hudson, died Monday, October 9, 2006, at the Western Home Communities Elizabeth Martin Health Center in Cedar Falls. He was born July 28, 1915 the son of William and Hannah (Miller) Courtney at Waterloo, Iowa. He graduated from Dinsdale High School in 1934. He married Margaret Boysen October 17, 1939 at Dike, Iowa. She preceded him in death December 30, 1994. Before his retirement he was a carpenter at UNI, retiring in 1981.

Howard is survived by two sons, Larry (Charlotte) Courtney and Daryl (Paulette) Courtney both of Waterloo, Iowa; one daughter, Joyce (John) Hill of Boone, Iowa; six grandchildren, Christine (David) Whetstone, Cathleen (Tony) Lundquist, Troy Harrison, Jolynn Harrrison, Kelly (Jason) Edson and 2 Lt. Brent Courtney; thirteen great grandchildren, Lukas, Baylee, Colton, Carly, Zeke, Reese, Halie, Dylan and Maysie and a very special friend, Madge McCoskey of Cedar Falls, Iowa.

Was preceded in death by his parents and wife.

Funeral services will at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, October 14, 2006 at St. Timothy Lutheran Church, Hudson, Iowa and burial will be in the Hudson Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5- 8 p.m. Friday, October 13, 2006 at the Dahl-Van Hove-Schoof Funeral Home. Memorials may be directed to St. Timothy Lutheran Church or Cedar Valley Hospice.
