Herbert Hagenow

Herbert Hagenow, 88, of Cedar Falls, died Thursday, July 27, 2006, at Sartori Memorial Hospital in Cedar Falls. Herbert was born August 1, 1917 in Readlyn, Iowa the son of Ernest & Malinda (Klemp) Hagenow. He served in the U.S. Army during WWII. Herbert married Velma Steere November 19, 1950 in Waterloo, Iowa. She preceded him in death December 22, 2005. He was employed at Viking Pump for 30 years where he was a machinist until retiring in 1980. Herbert was a member of Cedar Falls AMVETS Post 49.

Survivors include two sons, Dennis (Rosalee) Hagenow of Cedar Falls and Brian Hagenow of Clear Lake, Iowa; one daughter, Robin Hagenow of Des Moines, Iowa; four grandchildren, Christopher Hagenow, Susan Hetzel, Kathryn Hagenow, and Caroline Hagenow and one great granddaughter, Alexis Hagenow. Herbert was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, and his sister, Darlene Wyatt.

Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, August 1, 2006 at St. John Lutheran Church. Interment will be in Cedar Valley Memorial Gardens with full military rites by Cedar Falls AMVETS Post 49. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday at the Dahl-Van Hove-Schoof Funeral Home and for one hour prior to service time at the church. Memorials may be directed to church.
