Henry H Chandler

Henry H. Chandler, 91, of Plainfield, Iowa, formerly of Cedar Falls, died in rural Waverly on Thursday, May 28, 2009. He was born April 9, 1918 in Shell Rock, Iowa, the son of William and Hally (Howard) Chandler. Henry married Beatrice Star on February 28, 1941 in Waterloo, Iowa. She preceded him in death on February 9, 2002. He married Marjorie L. Smith on August 6, 2002, in Horton, Iowa. Henry was a graduate of Nashua High School and worked at Viking Pump Company, The Boeing Corporation, and John Deere & Company for thirty-three years, retiring in 1979. He was a lifetime member of the John Deere Supervisor Club.

Survivors include his wife, Marjorie, of Plainfield; two sons, William (Teri) Chandler of Cedar Falls and Douglas (Teresa) Chandler of Auburn, California; three daughters, Kathryn Hatch of Tucson, Arizona, Barbara Boudewyns of Cedar Falls and Mary Bruhn of Newton, Iowa; four step daughters; six grandchildren, two great grandchildren; two brothers, Joseph Chandler of Waverly and Loren (Ceicle) Chandler of Minneapolis, Minnesota, and a sister, Jane (William) Dudley of Minneapolis.

Henry was preceded in death by his parents and first wife, a brother, Leon Chandler, and four sisters, Louise Shephard, Esther Woodruff, Gladys Padget and Ruth Grosse.

Funeral services were Friday, May 29, 2009, at Dahl-Van Hove-Schoof Funeral Home in Cedar Falls.  Inurnment will be at a later date.  Memorials may be directed to Horton Baptist Church, 1413 140th St., Waverly, Iowa 50677.
