ZIKUDA, HELEN A. was born July 26, 1913 in Cresco, Iowa, the daughter of Samuel C. and Ida F. (Bergman) Kratz. She married Jerry J. Zikuda on April 20, 1940 at the Little Brown Church near Nashua, Iowa. He preceded her in death on October 30, 1984. Helen worked in the cafeteria at East Waterloo High School for twelve years, retiring in 1974. She died Friday, February 22, 2002, at St. Joseph Hospital in Omaha, Nebraska, at 88 years of age.
Helen is survived by her son, J. D. Zikuda and his wife Syb of Atlantic, Iowa; three grandchildren, Jennifer D. Zikuda and Jessica D. Zikuda, both of Atlantic, and Justine D. Zikuda of Des Moines, Iowa; two great-grandchildren, Benjamin Parker and Cora Zikuda, and two sisters, Loretta Mustard of Yakima, Washington and Dorothy Slifka of Waukon, Iowa. She was preceded in death by her husband and parents; two sisters, Mae Vernette Kratz and Marjorie Bronner and three brothers, Leonard, Glen and Roger Kratz.
Funeral services were 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, February 26, 2002, at Nazareth Lutheran Church in Cedar Falls, with burial at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday at Garden of Memories Cemetery in Waterloo. A memorial fund will be established.
