HAZEL MAE JACOBS was born February 14, 1905 in Clarksville, Iowa, the daughter of George William and Dora Belle (Bickley) Clark. She married Herbert F. Jacobs on February 18, 1926 in Clarksville. He preceded her in death on March 24, 1992. Hazel was a graduate of Clarksville High School and she and her husband farmed near the town for many years. Her family attended St. John Lutheran Church where she taught Sunday School for 22 years. In 1953 they moved to Cedar Falls, Iowa and opened Jacobs' Pet and Floral Shop on College Hill. The two of them, along with their daughter June, ran the shop and served the community for 35 years. Hazel enjoyed weaving rugs and teaching classes on making and painting figurines. She died Friday, May 31, 2002, at Sartori Memorial Hospital in Cedar Falls, at 97 years of age.
Hazel is survived by her daughter, June Jacobs of Cedar Falls. She was preceded in death by her husband and parents; a brother, Howard Clark and two sisters, Sara Satory and Doris Hanson.
Graveside Committal Services were 1:30 p.m. Monday, June 3, 2002, at Lynwood Cemetery in Clarksville, Iowa.
