Hattie "Laretta" Husome

Hattie "LaRetta" Husome, 80, passed away at the Martin Suites at Western Home Communities on Sunday, May 28, 2023, following a lingering illness.  She was born September 22, 1942, in Des Moines, daughter of James and Hattie (Northway) McPherson.  LaRetta graduated from Des Moines Technical High School with the Class of 1960 then attended Hawkeye Community College.  She married R. Ronald Burton and they later divorced.  LaRetta, then, married Dennis Husome.  She worked for Standard Vending as a Route Supervisor and at UNI as a Custodian retiring in 2008.

LaRetta was preceded in death by her parents; and brother, James McPherson, Jr.  She is survived by Dennis of Nevada; her children, Laura (Allan) Pelton and Ronda Burton both of Waterloo; her three grandchildren and her grandchildren through marriage: Katelind (Nick) Lenz of Osage, Brent Pelton of Melbourne, Australia, Ethan (Shyanne) Pelton of Coralville, Steve Dutcher of Dunkerton, and Jacob Dutcher of Waterloo; and her great grandchildren: Thomas Lenz, Lauren Lenz, Lydia Pelton, Aiden Dutcher, Charlotte Dutcher, and Hattie Dutcher.

LaRetta's Funeral Service will be at 11:00 am on Tuesday, June 6, 2023, with Visitation from 10-11:00 am at Dahl-Van Hove-Schoof Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Family for future designation and condolences can be left at www.DahlFuneralHome.com.
