Harry Lee Simpson, 68, of Cedar Falls, died Saturday, January 5, 2013, at his home in Cedar Falls. He was born December 17, 1944, in Cedar Falls, the son of Duane and Marcella (Shoemaker) Simpson and raised by his grandparents, Roy and Edna Shoemaker. Harry married Sandra Wagoner May 23, 1965 in Iowa Falls. He graduated from Dike High School in 1962 and attended Ellsworth Community College in Iowa Falls for two years. Harry worked for Viking Pump and was a supervisor for John Deere Tractor Works, retiring in 1999. He coached High School bowling, AAU Basketball and loved watching his grandchildren in their sport and school activities. He also loved riding his Harley and taking care of his farm. He is survived by his wife, Sandra Simpson, of Cedar Falls; three sons, Brian (Anna) Simpson, of Belle Plaine, Kansas, Kevin (Marjorie) Simpson, of Hudson, and Travis (Janet) Simpson, of Urbandale, Iowa; one daughter, Lori (Darin) Fincher, of Waverly; eight grandchildren, Kodey Simpson and Trystah Hofstrom, Spencer and Connor Simpson, Zach and Cade Simpson and Makayla and Katelyn Fincher; two great grand daughters; four step grandchildren and six step great grandchildren; two brothers, Robert (Faye) Simpson, of Wells, Maine and Richard (Judy) Kramer, of Traer; three half sisters, Barb Overman, of Waterloo, Marjorie Kloster, of Waverly and Carolyn Young, of Cedar Falls. Harry was preceded in death by his parents, maternal grandparents, Roy and Edna Shoemaker, and one half brother, Kenneth Young. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday, January 10, 2013 at First United Methodist Church, with burial in Fairview Cemetery, both in Cedar Falls. Visitation will be 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 9, 2013 at Dahl-Van Hove-Schoof Funeral Home and one hour before services at the church.
