HARRY E. PETERSEN, SR. was born January 11, 1918 in Waterloo, Iowa, the son of Andrew and Suzanne (Andersen) Petersen. He married Karen Christensen on April 11, 1942 in Waterloo. Harry farmed near Finchford, Iowa for 15 years and was a designer for 36 years at John Deere & Co. in Waterloo, retiring in 1980. He was a member of the John Deere Supervisor's Club in Waterloo. Harry died Thursday, January 16, 2003, at the Cedar Falls Lutheran Home, at 85 years of age.
He is survived by his wife, Karen, of Cedar Falls; two sons, Harry E. (Cindy) Petersen, Jr. of Cedar Falls and Philip Petersen of San Francisco, California; three daughters, Becky (Jerry) Vauthier of Waterloo, Audrey Petersen of Clive, Iowa and Annette (Dennis) Madiska of Longmont, Colorado; five grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and three step great-grandchildren; and two half sisters, Elda Riegel of Loveland, Colorado and Joan Harris of Arkansas.
Harry was preceded in death by his parents and a grandson, Matthew Madiska.
Funeral services were 1:30 p.m. Monday, January 20, 2003, at Dahl-Van Hove-Schoof Funeral Home in Cedar Falls. Interment will be at Greenwood Cemetery in Cedar Falls.
