Harry Detlef Hagge, 85, of Cedar Falls, Iowa, died Saturday, August 8, 2015, at UnityPoint Health Allen Hospital, Waterloo. He was born June 27, 1930, in Arcadia, Iowa, the son of Harry R. Hagge, Sr., and Lydia J. (Hoogestraat) Hagge. He married Madeline Hamann November 3, 1951, at St. Lawrence Church, Carroll, Iowa. She preceded him in death October 30, 2006. Harry became an Iowa Highway Patrolman in June 1952 and served for 31 years retiring in February 1981. Command Sergeant Major Hagge served in the Army National Guard, HHC 1st BN 133rd Infantry, retiring in 1980 after 32 years of service. He also owned and operated the Dairy Queen in Cedar Falls. His memberships include Ducks Unlimited, Pheasants Forever, Izaac Walton League, Enlisted Association National Guard of Iowa, Iowa Army National Guard Sergeant Major Association and the Cedar Falls Gun Club. Survivors include his son, Jon (Debra) Hagge, of Ankeny, Iowa; three daughters, Lori Whitehill, of McPherson, Kansas, Dana (John) Eastman, of Nisswa, Minnesota and Kerrie (Kurt) Albrecht, of Lenexa, Kansas; eight grandchildren, Jennifer (Jeffrey), Shannon (Jonathon), Drew (Amber), Evan (Alanna), Alex (Stephanie), Blake, Brooke, and Connor; nine great grandchildren, and his sister, Neoma Hagge, of Carroll. Harry was preceded in death by his parents and his wife. Services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, August 11, 2015 at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in Waterloo. Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Monday with a 7:00 p.m. Rosary Service at Dahl-Van Hove-Schoof Funeral Home, Cedar Falls, and for one hour before service time at the church on Tuesday. Visitation will also be from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. Wednesday at Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Carroll with a 1:00 p.m. Scriptural Prayer Service followed by burial in Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Military Honors will be conducted by the Iowa National Guard and the Carroll American Legion. Memorials may be directed to the family. Condolences may be left at www.DahlFuneralHome.com.
