Harry Paul Gutknecht, 76, of Cedar Falls, died Tuesday, March 1, 2011, at his home in rural Cedar Falls.  He was born April 29, 1934.  Harry was the son of Ewald and Louise (Engel) Gutknecht.  He married Roberta Mae Brown on August 22, 1955 in Waterloo.  Harry graduated from Hudson High School in 1953 and attended Iowa State University in Ames.  He served in the US Army during the Korean Conflict.  Harry was a farmer and owner of Midwest Tour and Travel in Cedar Falls for many years.

Survivors include his wife, Roberta Gutknecht, of Cedar Falls; two daughters, Debbie Dionne (Randy) Nieman of Buckingham, Iowa and Connie Leigh (Tim) Taplin of Cedar Falls; four grandchildren, Clayton James Nieman, Anna JoLeigh Nieman, Allison Leigha Taplin and Alexis LeAnna Taplin; one great granddaughter, Lyla Jocelyn; a brother, Lawrence (Sharon) Zellmer, of Moville, Iowa, and a sister, Rose Sands, of Waverly, Iowa.

Harry was preceded in death by his parents, a sister and brother, and a sister-in-law, Arlene Brown.

Funeral services will be 2:30 pm Saturday, March 5, 2011, at Hammond Ave. Brethren Church in Waterloo, with burial at Hudson Cemetery, Hudson, Iowa.  Military honors will be conducted by Hudson AMVETS Post 82 and Evansdale AMVETS Post 31.  Visitation will be 5—7:30 pm Friday at Dahl-Van Hove-Schoof Funeral Home, and one hour before service at the church.  Memorials may be directed to the family.  Online condolences may be left at www.DahlFuneralHome.com.
