Harriet Wharton

Harriet J. Wharton, 94, of Waterloo, Iowa,  died Wednesday, March 14, 2018 at Mountain Vista Medical Center in Mesa, Arizona.  Harriet was born July 16, 1923 in Dows, Iowa, the daughter of Oscar & Mildred (Hardcastle) Jacobson.  She married Roscoe Wharton October 19, 1940 in Missouri.  He preceded her in death May 18, 1990.  Harriet was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR).

Survivors include two sons, John (Mary) Wharton of Sunrise Beach, Missouri and Jim (Stina) Wharton of Cedar Falls; one daughter, Penny (Donald) Smith of Gold Canyon; and 8 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren and 4 great great grandchildren.

Harriet was preceded in death by her parents and husband; one son, Thomas Wharton and one daughter, Pamela Johnson.

Services will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday, March 24, 2018 at Dahl-Van Hove-Schoof Funeral Home with burial in Fairview Cemetery, Dows, Iowa.  Visitation will be from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. Friday and one hour prior to service time at the funeral home.  Memorials may be directed to First Congregational Church, 608 W. 4th Street, Waterloo, Iowa  50702.  Condolences may be left at www.DahlFuneralHome.com.
