Harold L. Meyerhoff, 91, of Cedar Falls, died at home on Sunday, October 1, 2017. He was born July 29, 1926 in Chester, Iowa, the son of Lewis and Minnie (Lamprecht) Meyerhoff. Harold married Virginia Wolfgram on September 14, 1947 in Nashua, Iowa and she preceded him in death on June 12, 1992. Harold served in the U.S. Navy during WW II. He worked in the Austin, Minnesota Parks Dept. and was an auto mechanic for many years. Later Harold worked at John Deere & Company in Waterloo for 26 years, retiring September 30, 1987. He was a former member of Cedar Falls AMVETS Post 49 and the American Legion. Harold also was a former member of Immanuel Lutheran and Ascension Lutheran Churches, both in Waterloo.
He is survived by two daughters, Sandra (Don) Frickson of Cedar Falls and Julie (Craig) Meyerhoff-Yocom of La Porte City, Iowa; two sons, Dennis Meyerhoff of Davenport, Iowa and Steve (Dena) Meyerhoff of High Springs, Florida; several grandchildren and great grandchildren, and a brother, Louis Meyerhoff of Cascade, Iowa.
Harold was preceded in death by his parents and wife; a son, Craig Meyerhoff; five sisters and three brothers.
Services will be 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, October 4, 2017, at Dahl-Van Hove-Schoof Funeral Home in Cedar Falls, with burial at Garden of Memories in Waterloo. Military honors will be conducted by Cedar Falls AMVETS Post 49. Visitation will be 4 - 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, and an hour before service, at the funeral home. Memorials may be directed to the family.
