Harold Madsen, 86, of Cedar Falls, Iowa,  died Friday, November 23, 2007, at the Cedar Valley Hospice Home in Waterloo, Iowa. He was born July 12, 1921, at Dike, Iowa, the son of Jorgen and Ida (Christiansen) Madsen. He graduated from the Dike High School. He married Lenora Johnson on September 5, 1943, at Fredsville Lutheran Church. She preceded him in death October 14, 2004. He farmed for 41 years, retiring in 1987. He was a veteran in WWII serving in the Army Air Corp on the crew of a B-29 in the Pacific theatre. He served his church in a variety of capacities; he served his community as a member of the school board, the Grundy County Board of Supervisors, the American Legion, and the Board of Directors of the Cedar Falls Lutheran Home. He also celebrated his Danish heritage as an active member of the Danish Brotherhood of America, the Cedar Valley Danes and was a supporter of the Danish Immigration Museum.

He is survived by three daughters, Mary Kay Madsen, Waterloo, Jean (Stephen) Beisler of Iowa City, and Sara Madsen of Minneapolis, Minnesota and six grandchildren, Michelle Cable, Nicole (Dan) Buettner Cable, Matthew and Kristin Beisler, Lisa and Andrew Jasperson and one great daughter, Adrienne Buettner-Cable and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, and one sister, Elizabeth Jensen.

Memorial services will be at 11 am Wednesday, November 28, at Fredsville Lutheran Church with burial in the church cemetery. Visitation will be from 5-7 pm Tuesday, November 27, at the Dahl Van Hove-Schoof Funeral Home. Memorials may be directed to Cedar Valley Hospice and to the Danish Immigrant Museum at Elkhorn, Iowa.
