Harold Braun Kreb, 86, formerly of Cedar Falls, passed away on Thursday, January 30, 2025, at The Moorings in Arlington Heights, Illinois. He was born September 16, 1938, son of William and Ella (Braun) Kreb. Harold graduated from NU High School with the Class of 1956, then attended Iowa State College where he studied Engineering and was a member of the ISU basketball team his freshman year. On February 28, 1960, he was married to Sharon Sue Burns in the First United Methodist Church of Cedar Falls. Harold was a Mechanical Engineer at John Deere for 28 years, retiring in 1985.
Harold was preceded in death by his parents; his wife of 63 years, Sharon; and a brother, Eugene (Ann) Kreb. He is survived by 3 sons: Keith (Tracy) of Lake Forest, Illinois, Kevin (Denise) of Arlington Heights, Illinois, and Karl (Alejandra) of Rancho Santa Margarita, California; 8 grandchildren: Rachel, Christian, Courtney, Kody, Connor, Kaitlyn and Kara Kreb and Jennifer (Brian) Knott; his siblings: Eva Huston of Edisto Island, South Carolina, Martin (Jean) Kreb of Sunnyvale, California, and Robert (Theresa) Kreb of Los Gatos, California; his sister-in-law Barbara (Glenn) Tobiason; and many nieces and nephews.
The family will hold a celebration of Harold's life on Saturday, May 17th at 11:00 a.m. at the Diamond Event Center, 5307 Caraway Lane, Cedar Falls, IA, 50613, followed by a private family burial at Fairview Cemetery of Cedar Falls.
Harold was a past member of the Waterloo Bicycling Club and enjoyed riding RAGBRAI. He also rode his bike across the northern US and throughout Europe. He was an avid golfer and participated in bowling league when he was younger. Harold and Sharon spent many winters in Fort Myers, Florida and spring and fall in Ocean Isle Beach, North Carolina.
