Harold K. Kienzle

Harold K. Kienzle, 88, of Cedar Falls, died Wednesday, April 11, 2012, at Sartori Memorial Hospital in Cedar Falls. He was born June 11, 1923 in Gladbrook, Iowa, the son of William Jacob and Anna Katherine (Kroeger) Kienzle. Harold married Rozella Ilene Stammer on March 18, 1951 in Gladbrook. She preceded him in death on September 6, 2011. Harold was a graduate of Gladbrook High School and Iowa State University. He served in the U.S. Army during WW II and was an engineer for thirty-seven years at John Deere & Company in Waterloo. Harold was a member of the Society of Automotive Engineers, Ducks Unlimited, Waterloo Technology Society, the NRA, Tau Beta Pi and Pi Tau Sigma. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and woodworking. Harold enjoyed camping with his family, was former Scoutmaster of Troop 149 and was a passenger on the May 2011 Honor Flight to Washington, DC. Survivors include two sons, Douglas (Carol) Kienzle of Cedar Falls and Kent (Patricia) Kienzle of Rochester, Michigan; two daughters, Kristi (Jack) Keller of Casper, Wyoming and Karen Kienzle of Phoenix, Arizona; six grandchildren, Megan, Emily, Justin, Seth, Justine and Marissa; two great grandchildren, Jackson and Elleanor; a step grandchild, John Keller, and two brothers, George (Nancy) Kienzle of Iowa City, Iowa and Richard (Barbara) Kienzle of Duluth, Minnesota. Harold was preceded in death by his wife and parents, a sister, Margery Goos, and a brother, William Kienzle. Services will be 10:30 am Saturday, April 14, 2012, at the United Church of Christ, with burial at Greenwood Cemetery, both in Cedar Falls. Military honors will be conducted by Cedar Falls AMVETS Post 49. Visitation will be 47:00 pm Friday at Dahl-Van Hove-Schoof Funeral Home. A memorial fund will be established.
