GRACE MARIAN PETERSON was born November 12, 1912 in Ida Grove, Iowa the daughter of Joshua Lewis and Cynthia Ellen (Custer) Foster. She married Curtis "Sam" Peterson May 29, 1938 at Spencer, Iowa. He preceded her in death on April 24, 1978. Grace taught elementary school in country schools, Rembrandt, Iowa and after moving to Cedar Falls in 1966, she substitute taught for the Cedar Falls School District. Grace died Tuesday, October 7, 2003 at the Western Home Communities-Elizabeth Martin Center at the age of 90 years.
Survivors include two daughters, Sharon (John) Longnecker of Bella Vista, Arkansas, Rev. Mary (Joel Lindemann) Peterson of Coulter, Iowa; six grandchildren, John (Deb) Longnecker, James (Cheri) Longnecker, Joel Longnecker, Joshua (Jill) Longnecker, Sarah (Tim) Williams, and Jeremiah (Allison) Longnecker; 19 great grandchildren, and one nephew, James (Carol) Dolan of Pismo Beach, California. Grace was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, one brother, Lewis Foster, and two sisters, Laura Opal Foster and Jessie Isabel Broadwell.
Funeral services were 10:00 a.m. Friday, October 10, 2003 at St. John Lutheran Church with burial in Fairview Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the church or the Western Home.
