Gladys J Coates

Gladys J. Coates, 88, of Cedar Falls, died Wednesday, November 3, 2010 at the Western Home Communities Elizabeth Martin Health Center.  Gladys was born June 2, 1922, at Whittemore, Iowa, the daughter of Reinhold & Bertha (Voigt) Ostwald.  She married Dale M. Coates August 24, 1947 at St. John Lutheran Church, Cedar Falls.

Survivors include her husband, Dale Coates, of Cedar Falls; her son, John (Linda) Coates, of Marina, California; two daughters, Pam (Don) Poggensee, of Ida Grove, Iowa and Lonna (David) Christie, of Cedar Falls; seven grandchildren, William (Petrina) Risso, Sabrina (Jose) Guevara, Dale Coates, Katie Boyce, Abby Mohlis, Jessica Christie and Megan Christie; and six great grandchildren, Anthony & Portia Risso, Angel, Ernesto, Johnathan & Brilynn Guevara.

Gladys was preceded in death by her parents.

Services will be 4:00 p.m. Saturday, November 6, 2010, at St. John Lutheran Church with inurnment in Fairview Cemetery at a later date.  Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday at the Dahl-Van Hove-Schoof Funeral Home, and 3:30 p.m. to service time at the church on Saturday.  Memorials may be directed to the church or Cedar Valley Hospice.  Online condolences may be left at www.DahlFuneralHome.com .
