VAN LENGEN, GERTRUDE was born October 31, 1920, in Allison, Iowa, the daughter of Jacob F. and Lizzie (Siems) Folkers. She married John Van Lengen August 31, 1938 in Waverly, Iowa. Gert retired from Hawkeye Corrugated Box Co. in 1985. She died Sunday, December 30, 2001, at Sartori Memorial Hospital in Cedar Falls, at the age of 81 years.
Gert is survived by her husband, John Van Lengen of Janesville, Iowa; one son, John J. Van Lengen of Janesville, Iowa; two daughters, Dorothy Wilmot and Jo Ann Gronowski, both of Cedar Falls, Iowa; thirteen grandchildren; thirty great-grandchildren; two brothers, Richard Folkers and Jake Folkers, Jr., both of Cedar Falls, Iowa and one sister, Ruth Smith of Evansdale, Iowa.
She was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, Fred, Ben and Ray Folkers; one sister, Sena Adelmund and one son-in-law, Chuck Wilmot.
Funeral services were 1:30 Thursday, January 3, 2002 at the Dahl-Van Hove-Schoof Funeral Home & Cremation Service with burial in Cedar Valley Memorial Gardens. A memorial fund will be established.
