Gertie Luhring

Gertie Luhring, 94, of Cedar Falls, died Saturday, January 16, 2010, at the Cedar Falls Lutheran Home.  Gertie was born October 17, 1915 in Grundy County, Iowa, the daughter of Anton & Lena (Rewerts) Reiter.  She married Klaas Luhring October 15, 1935 at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa.  He preceded her in death November 3, 1985.  They farmed west of Cedar Falls for many years.

Survivors include two sons, Vern Luhring of Cedar Falls and Marv (Sue) Luhring, of Hudson, Iowa, two daughters, Lois (Frosty) Miller, of Austin, Minnesota and Debra Luhring of Raleigh, North Carolina; her daughter-in-law, Ana Luhring, of Cedar Falls; eight grandchildren, Eric Luhring, Liza Hulme, Jennifer Jacobsen, Jayne Spear, Julie Kaus, Trent Miller, Tori Miller and Kent Luhring; seventeen great grandchildren, Stephanie, Raquel, Christian and Connor Luhring, Nicole, Brandon and Rachael Hulme, Olivia  and Noelle Jacobsen, Zach and Tate Spear, Austin, Hannah and Emily Kaus, and Tremayne, Tanisha and Trevin Miller; one great great grandson, Mason Lindseth-Miller: one sister, Esther (Richard) Eisentrager, of Dumont, Iowa, and one brother, Alvin (Betty) Reiter, of Ackley, Iowa.

Gertie was preceded in death by her parents and husband; one son, De Wayne Luhring; one daughter-in-law, Barb Luhring; one grandson, Allan David Luhring; three sisters, Etta Eiklenborg Borneman, Jeanette Meester and Alma Bergmann; and three brothers, Laurence, Fred and Leroy Reiter.

Services will be 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 20, 2010 at the Dahl-Van Hove-Schoof Funeral Home with burial in Oak Hill Cemetery, Parkersburg.  Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday and one hour prior to service time Wednesday at the funeral home.  Memorials may be directed to Zion Lutheran Church in Hudson, Iowa, the Cedar Falls Lutheran Home, or Christian Crusaders.  Online condolences may be left at www.DahlFuneralHome.com
