GERALD G. "JERRY" MUNSON
was born July 3, 1925 in New Hampton, Iowa, the son of George F. Munson and Gladys M. Flewelyn. He married Mary Howe on August 8, 1949, at The Little Brown Church in Bradford, Iowa. Gerald served with the U.S. Army during WW II in the European Theatre. He was a truck driver with Rath Packing Co. in Waterloo, Iowa for 32 years and owned and operated Munson Refrigeration Co. in Cedar Falls, Iowa, for many years. Gerald was also a member of Cedar Falls AMVETS Post 49. He died Monday, June 14, 1999, at his home in Janesville, Iowa at 73 years of age.
Gerald is survived by his wife Mary, of Janesville; his four daughters, Jacquelyn Green of Cedar Falls, Lynda Munson of Janesville, Janine Henriksen of Cedar Falls and Lori Havel of Altoona, Iowa; six grandchildren, Jeremy Henriksen, Michelle Green, Erin Van Hauen, Elizabeth Green, Ashley Van Hauen and Jenna Havel; two sisters, Dorothy Baker of Waverly, Iowa and Norma Pries of Waterloo, and a step-brother, Valdon Johnson of Cedar Falls.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his son, Gerald "G. G." Munson.
Funeral services were 11:00 a.m. Thursday, June 17, 1999, at Dahl-Van Hove-Schoof Funeral Home, with interment at Hillside Cemetery, both in Cedar Falls. Military rites were conducted by Cedar Falls AMVETS Post 49. A memorial fund will be established.
