DR. GERALD DUANE
BISBEY, 77, of Cedar Falls, died at home on Thursday, July 8, 2004. Gerald was born July 28, 1926 in Waterloo, Iowa, the son of George H. and Amelia (Rohrssen) Bisbey. He married Lola M. Silver on August 12, 1950 at Waterloo. Gerald graduated from Waterloo East High School in 1944 and served with the US Army Air Corps during WW II. He graduated from the University of Northern Iowa with a B.A. in Math and Physics and received his Masters degree in Educational Statistics from Iowa State University in Ames, Iowa. Gerald received his PhD. in Educational Statistics from the University of Iowa in Iowa City, Iowa. He began teaching math and physics at Cedar Falls High School in 1950 and taught at the University of Wisconsin, River Falls for four years. He came to the University of Northern Iowa in 1964, serving as Director of Institutional Research and also Educational Measurement Statistics, retiring in 1992. Gerald was a member of Nazareth Lutheran Church and the Cedar Falls Kiwanis Club.
Survivors include his wife, Lola, of Cedar Falls; a daughter, Joan Christine (Jim) Martin of Marion, Iowa; two sons, James Allen (Kathryn) Bisbey of Ankeny, Iowa and John Louis (Dori) Bisbey of Rockledge, Florida; and two grandchildren, Rebecca Jane Baych and David Andrew Baych, both of Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
Gerald was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, James Everett Bisbey.
Funeral services were 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, July 13, 2004, at Nazareth Lutheran Church in Cedar Falls. Memorials may be directed to Nazareth Lutheran Church Choir, Christian Crusaders, Cedar Falls Kiwanis Club, Salvation Army, St. Mark's Episcopal Church (4 Church St. Cocoa, FL) or Phi Delta Kappa Fraternity.
