Gerald Bauer

Gerald "Jerry" W. Bauer, 87, of Cedar Falls, died Saturday, November 23, 2013, at Sartori Memorial Hospital. Jerry was born December 31, 1925 in Cedar Falls, the son of Emil & Julia (Bruhn) Bauer. He married Allene Degener September 1, 1948 in Hudson, Iowa. Jerry served in the United States Navy during WWII and was owner/operator of Red's Body Shop from 1956 to 1990. Survivors include his wife, Allene, of Cedar Falls; a son, Dan (Lesley) Bauer of New Richmond, Wisconsin; a daughter, Teri (Ray) Gray, of Cedar Falls; eight grandchildren, ten great grandchildren; a brother, Leonard Bauer, of Benson, Iowa and a sister, Thelma Gutknecht, of Dike, Iowa. Jerry was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Rick Bauer, and a sister, Berniece Hesse. Services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, November 27, 2013, at Nazareth Lutheran Church with inurnment at Cedar Valley Memorial Gardens. Military Honors will be conducted by Cedar Falls AMVETS Post 49.
